Membership Promotion
Our Membership Promotion Committee would like to welcome you back for another year here at the ASHRAE Long Island Chapter. The MP Committee is focused on recruiting new members, retaining existing members, and rewarding members for their involvement.
Our recruitment efforts will continue the momentum built last year, and will focus not only on getting new members to join but also on increasing new member participation in chapter meetings and events.
Retention efforts will focus on reducing chapter dues delinquencies, improving our tracking of member attendance and measuring engagement, and renewal of memberships.
Lastly, we will be will working on numerous events and outing for our chapter members this year.
Beyond the usual monthly meetings, which include professional development seminars and networking happy hours, we will be doing regular outings and events to further encourage member engagement. Some of these events will include regular chapter sponsored golf events, happy hours and networking events, and an event on career development.
Murat is a Senior Energy Engineer in the Energy group at AECOM. For nearly 10 years, he has worked on numerous ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits and feasibility studies, primarily for New York City's Local Law 87 and 97 compliances. In this capacity, Murat analyzes large commercial, residential, hospital, and hotel buildings' energy usage to identify appropriate energy conservation and retro-commissioning measures that significantly reduce operational costs without compromising indoor environmental quality. At AECOM, he serves as an advisor to NYSERDA on its Empire Building Challenge to transform New York’s existing building stock into the buildings of the future. Murat consults for the University of Colorado on air pressurization optimization and real-time energy monitoring control upgrades for its lab buildings. He also consults for Los Alamos National Lab as a team member of AECOM to achieve its hundreds of buildings’ net zero energy goal. He is on the board of the Long Island Chapter of ASHRAE, where he served as a past President, and is an active member of the Association for Energy Engineers. Murat earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Sakarya University in Turkey and a Master of Science in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology.
